Smart have quite rightly got a reputation for building cars that are environmentally friendly vehicles and this has been the case ever since their introduction to the market. But now it seems that they have gone 1 step further as they have now shown concept plans for Smart scooters. These scooters are obviously like no other used Smart car of the past, nor are they anything like the new models that have recently been upgraded. Instead, they are due to target a whole new market (the 2 wheel market) and attempt to drum up some interest. Judging by the pictures recently released, these prototype Smart scooters certainly look the part and will soon be put on display at the Paris motor show. Whilst displaying a traditional and typical scooter look and feel, there is an element that this is indeed a Smart unit; it actually looks economical! Whilst there are no technical specifications available at this time, it does raise the question of whether Mercedes-Benz / Smart genuinely have plans for market rollout. If so I can see there being quite a few consumers interested in purchasing the product. Of course the scooter market is very different to that of the cars market, but nonetheless, there has certainly been an upturn in interest ever since the emphasis was placed on driving eco-friendly automobiles. So if you are in the market for a new scooter and are not necessarily looking to make the change over to cars, why not consider buying one from Mercedes-Benz Smart; after all, if they are going to be anything like the models in the current range, you will certainly be in for a bargain.
It seems that the future of the SEAT car company is going to be one to keep an eye on if this vehicle design is anything to go by. The Bocanegra (translated in Spanish as being “black mouth”) is a view to the future direction of the brand, which I am sure you will all agree, looks like it is going to be hot and tasty! Already recognised for a sporty style when building their cars, SEAT seems to have taken things to the next level and so the future is very much upon us. The Bocanegra will line up alongside the SEAT Cupra and FR models; with all three units housing the same 1.4 litre TSI engine that is manufactured by Volkswagen. This engine will produce almost 180 BHP, which is quite impressive given the size of the car. Attention to detail has also always been one of SEAT’s good points and the interior of the Bocanegra clearly shows that the designers paid extra attention to this vehicle. It really does give the feel of a true sports car and carries with it the Auto Emocion that all new and used SEAT cars possess. This is a car that also comes equipped with paddle shifters that are positioned behind the steering wheel. Do doubt that this will provide SEAT fanatics with a good topic for discussion. So it seems then that the new Bocanegra is very much providing a style for the future and it looks like we as consumers are going to be in for a real treat come availability time.
We all know that the 911 has always been the most impressive and valued car in the Porsche range. For years it has reigned, not only as the number 1 used Porsche model, but also as one of the very best in the industry. It is a sports car like no other and has that special flair that can only be found in these remarkable German super cars. Step forward the all new Porsche 911 GT3 RS version, which is of course based on the GT3 model. With additional power and offering an all round better performance, the GT3 RS looks like it is going to be something really special. Porsche have managed to increase the engine power of the GT3 RS by improving the air intake system that resulted in constructing a new air filter. And so what this achieved was it assisted the progression of the used Porsche GT3 and enabled the RS variant to be produced. Powered by a six speed cylinder Boxer engine, this is a car that is going places (quite literally). Working with a 3.8 litre engine, torque of 430 Nm at 6,750 rpm and maximum revs of 8,500 rpm; Porsche have delivered once more. Coupled with these impressive rpm rates, the GT3 RS is able to achieve 0 to 62 mph is only 4 seconds and can reach 310 km/h as its maximum speed. So it is clear for all to see just why the vehicle has been given the title “RS” and no doubt it will go on and receive rave reviews for its overall performance and driving experience.
Of late Peugeot seem to have taken a step in a new direction and have managed to deliver some special and intriguing designs. The first model that springs to mind is the RCZ, which I believe is currently performing rather well in terms of interest and sales numbers. And so on to another unit, the 3008, which seems to be an auto that is being underestimated – especially given the abilities and features that is has at its disposal. The thing is that the 3008 may look like a typical MPV / people carrier, but the reality is that it is much more than that. Sure it has the high roofline with a boxed outer structure, but the performance of the vehicle is where it really stands out from the rest of the competition. Unmistakably the 3008 is a Peugeot, which is highlighted by the prominent front grille that oozes with the Peugeot charisma and style. But what else does it offer? Traction is controlled to cater for different conditions thanks to intelligent electronic system that is incorporated to work alongside the cars’ electronic stability program. Therefore, it is because of this, as well as a number of other reasons and features, that the new and used Peugeot 3008 will no doubt go on to become a favoured vehicle of choice for many buyers looking for an advanced MPV. And so it seems that along with the RCZ, the 3008 model from Peugeot can be added to the list of impressive additions for the company. With the car market in a rather sticky place at the moment, will Peugeot be one of those to prosper in such difficult conditions? Only time will tell.
So it seems that MINI cars will no longer be described as being mini after all. Well this is the case for the latest addition to the range, the Countryman model, which is actually a 4×4 unit! Containing four doors that were previously only available with the used MINI Clubman model, the Countryman has been described as taking the brand in a whole new direction. In effect, this new addition to the already glowing range of MINI vehicles is a beefed up auto that carries with it the tradition and charisma of the BMW MINI. Other words that could be used to describe the Countryman are chunky and robust; it really is that impressive. The overall style has definitely seen an upturn with this unit and from first impressions it looks as though it could well go on to become a popular choice with consumers. Some may say that this new radical design goes against the grain a little too much and whilst this is understandable to a certain degree; there is still enough contained within the design that displays the MINI heart and soul, which has made the brand so famous since the 1960’s. And if the design of the vehicle is somewhat indifferent, MINI have still managed to maintain similar performance levels b equipping the Countryman with either the 89 BHP and 181 BHP engines (depending on the variant chosen) that were also available in the Cooper models. So all is not lost! Prices for this new car are expected to start from roughly £17,000.
Lotus cars have built up quite a reputation for being leaders in the sports cars market sector as well as having cars that offer optimal handling. Now we know that the Lotus Elise is the flagship vehicle of the company but that does not mean the others are not worthy of a mention. For example the new and used Lotus Evora – what a car! Sturdy and slick is what the Freelander 2 could be described as and it seems that Land Rover have once again managed to manufacture a vehicle that is worthy of being placed in their range of stunning automobiles. The Land Rover Freelander 2 has style and charisma that is able to deliver an action packed driving experience, which is right up there with the best of them. New and used Land Rover cars are normally constructed in this way but the Freelander 2 does it in so much style that you could be forgiven for thinking that this was not a 4×4 vehicle; and instead was a cosy and comfortable saloon.
